Contemporary Amperex Intelligent Technology (Shanghai) Limited (CAIT), the skateboard chassis unit of CATL, has formed a strategic partnership with Turkish automaker Togg to co-develop its Bedrock Chassis platform for a new family of B-segment electric vehicles. This marks the platform’s first collaboration outside China. Senior leaders from both companies formalized the agreement, with CAIT’s CEO and CATL’s chief customer officer signing alongside Togg’s CEO and chairman.
Under the agreement, CAIT will provide its Bedrock Chassis technology and engineering support to co-create a modular platform for three upcoming models in Togg’s B-segment lineup. The joint development process will reflect Togg’s product strategy, user expectations and digital architecture requirements. The first vehicle built on this platform is expected to enter volume production in 2027, targeting both Turkish and broader European markets.
The Bedrock Chassis features an integrated, battery-centric architecture that unites the battery pack, electric drive unit, thermal management system and chassis domain controller within a single underbody structure. This holistic design enables efficient energy management and motion control, effectively transforming the chassis into a mobile energy carrier. CATL’s chairman and CEO described the collaboration as a key milestone in expanding the Bedrock Chassis globally and promoting low-carbon mobility in emerging markets.
Togg’s chairman emphasized the partnership’s strategic nature, explaining that the collaboration extends beyond traditional supplier relationships. By engaging in the entire development process, Togg aims to better respond to local user needs while contributing to the growth of Türkiye’s mobility ecosystem and creating shared value.
The project will follow CAIT’s “1+1+1” localization model, which pairs a standardized chassis platform with a dedicated industrial supply chain and localized brand operations. This approach allows regionally tailored electric vehicles built on a common technological foundation. Implementing this model in Türkiye is expected to strengthen the local EV industry and meet specific market preferences.
Following the Bedrock Chassis’s mass production launch in China in 2024, CAIT is pursuing additional collaborations across Europe and Southeast Asia. The platform is designed to help emerging automotive markets develop competitive electric vehicle offerings more rapidly while supporting the global transition toward low-emission mobility.
