Tampere, Finland — CeLLife Technologies, a deep-tech spin-off from Tampere University, has secured €4 million in a post-seed financing round. The investment brings together the European Innovation Council (EIC), new backers 2C Ventures (Estonia) and Butterfly Ventures (Finland), and existing investor Ventech (France).

CeLLife’s core offering is its patented Electrical Fingerprint (EFP™) technology, which captures detailed electrical measurements from battery cells in seconds and converts that data into diagnostics, traceability insights, and decision-support tools. The chemistry-agnostic platform works seamlessly across nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC), lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP), nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA), solid-state, and sodium-ion cells. Multiple granted patents protect EFP’s methods and applications.

The company has already onboarded paying customers in three market segments and signed its first major commercial agreement with a leading European battery recycling firm. In 2025, CeLLife was also named among the Top 10 winners of the European Startup Prize for Mobility.

“This funding enables us to accelerate the commercial rollout of our battery quality and health intelligence platform,” said Dr. Roni Luhtala, Co-founder and CEO of CeLLife Technologies. “Battery manufacturers, recyclers, and energy storage operators all require faster, more reliable visibility into battery quality, condition, and performance. We are building the diagnostics and decision-support infrastructure needed across the full battery lifecycle.”

“CeLLife’s technology has the potential to disrupt battery diagnostics throughout the value chain, from manufacturing to inbound quality control and end-of-life recycling,” said Hendrik Reimand, Founding Partner at 2C Ventures. “It offers a clear customer value proposition and a disruptive commercial opportunity with significant environmental benefits.”

The new funds will be allocated to scaling commercial operations across Europe and North America, with a focus on battery recycling, module and pack assembly quality control, and condition monitoring solutions for battery energy storage systems (BESS). CeLLife’s platform strategy aligns with increasing demand for battery traceability, lifecycle intelligence, and digital records under the EU Battery Regulation, which introduces mandatory battery passports for certain categories from February 2027.
