Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) remained the leading supplier, installing 333.57 GWh of batteries in China last year and powering approximately 5.07 million vehicles. Its overall market share was 43.42%, down 1.67 percentage points from 2024.

Second-place BYD recorded 165.77 GWh of installations, powering 3.82 million vehicles, and held a 21.58% market share, a decline of 3.17 percentage points.

The third-ranked supplier, CALB, achieved 53.61 GWh of domestic installations—enough to power 830,000 vehicles—and raised its market share by 0.29 percentage points to 6.98%.

Other notable contributors included Gotion High-tech (43.44 GWh, 5.65% share), Eve Energy (31.61 GWh, 4.11%), Sunwoda (24.35 GWh, 3.17%) and Svolt Energy (20.71 GWh, 2.70%).

In the ternary battery segment, CATL’s installations totaled 101.61 GWh, giving it a 70.90% share, up 1.67 percentage points. LG Energy Solution ranked second with 13.75 GWh (9.59%, +3.97 points), followed by CALB at 12.73 GWh (8.88%, –0.58 points).

Within the LFP market, CATL led with 231.96 GWh of installations (37.13%, +0.05 points), while BYD maintained second place at 165.74 GWh (26.53%, –6.44 points). Gotion High-tech secured third place with 42.94 GWh and a 6.87% share, up 1.34 percentage points.

These figures highlight the continued consolidation of China’s EV battery sector, driven by strong demand for LFP chemistry and the leading positions of CATL and BYD across both overall and segment-specific markets.
