Highstar has introduced a comprehensive battery cell portfolio tailored for artificial intelligence data centers at the 2026 GGII Energy Storage Industry Summit in Nantong, China. The solution addresses three core power domains: grey-space UPS and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, white-space battery backup units (BBUs), and grid-side energy storage.

To meet the demands of increasing AI rack density and dynamic load profiles, Highstar’s offering includes an 85Ah high-rate lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell for grey-space applications. This cell delivers rapid power bursts, consistent backup under frequent pulse conditions, and robust thermal control, all while supporting compact system layouts. Complementing this is a 50Ah sodium-ion cell engineered to operate reliably across a broad temperature range from –40°C to 80°C.

For white-space BBUs, the company provides a series of tabless cylindrical cells in 18650 and 21700 formats with both LFP and high-nickel NMC chemistries. These cells offer low internal resistance, minimal temperature rise, and enhanced safety, enabling high instantaneous power delivery and flexible adaptation to various rack-space, power, and cost requirements.

On the grid side, Highstar’s portfolio features 314Ah lithium-ion and 160Ah sodium-ion cells, optimized for long-duration energy storage, extended cycle life, and rapid power support. Combined, the three layers ensure a coordinated chain of protection from rack-level defense and system-level backup to upstream grid storage.

Highstar’s integrated approach spans cathode, anode, electrolyte, and separator development alongside structural innovations such as tabless current collection, precision pressure relief, and directional venting. The full-chain architecture streamlines cell selection and system integration for equipment suppliers, system integrators, and data center operators, while offering a unified platform for collaborative validation and tailored application development across AI data center power infrastructures.

During the summit, Highstar also participated in the unveiling of the “2026 Global AIDC Power Supply Industry Development Blue Book” and received recognition as a “Top Benchmark in AIDC Energy Storage” for its contributions to the industry.
