🔋 Hongqi Debuts 10-70% Ultra-Fast Charging Battery for EVs

Hongqi and CNET announced an ultra-fast charging battery, reporting 10% to 70% SOC in 3m41s and 10% to 97% in 8m3s. The battery uses a 12C peak rate, an optimized anode, proprietary electrolyte, and liquid cooling. Read more

The IEA reported electric car sales rose 35% year over year in Q2 2026, while global light-vehicle sales fell 5%. The report notes EV growth across more than 90 markets and projects a 29% share supported by incentives. Read more

🔋 Chinese-Made Cars to Hit 58% of Australia Market by 2035

The AADA forecast Chinese-made vehicles could reach 58% of Australia’s new car market by 2035, up from 35.5% in June. It also reported EV registrations rose 120% in H1 2026, led by BYD and Tesla. Read more

🔋 BYD Files Police Report Against Blogger Over Blade Battery

A blogger reported BYD filed a police report after he posted test data on Blade Battery 2.0 temperatures, citing a discrepancy between cell-surface readings and BMS readings. BYD and Shanghai police have not confirmed, and the account is suspended. Read more

🔋 Rock Tech Lithium Secures Spodumene Offtake with Transamine

Rock Tech Lithium signed a binding seven-year offtake agreement with Transamine for up to 100,000 dmtpa of spodumene concentrate from the Georgia Lake project starting in 2028. The deal includes an $80 million prepayment facility and a ramp from 50,000 tonnes. Read more

🔋 Altilium Secures UK Patent for EcoCathode EV Recycling

Altilium received a UK patent (GB2637908B) for its EcoCathode process, using hydrometallurgy to recover and regenerate high-purity cathode materials from end-of-life lithium-ion cells. The company describes the approach as closed-loop and low-carbon. Read more

🔋 CATL, CBGX Join Forces on Battery Carbon Reduction

CATL signed a strategic agreement with CBGX, Ningde Communications, and Ningbo Yiheng Carbon to develop a unified battery carbon reduction methodology. The parties also referenced green finance and work toward harmonizing China’s emissions standards with global norms. Read more
