LG Energy Solution announced on October 8, 2026, that it signed a multi-year binding offtake agreement with Elevra Lithium for spodumene concentrate. Under the agreement, Elevra will supply 240,000 dry metric tonnes over four years, with deliveries beginning later this year. The material will come from Elevra’s operational North American Lithium project in Quebec, Canada.

LG Energy Solution said sourcing spodumene concentrate from an operating North American mine will strengthen its ability to respond to local customers and support regional energy storage system demand. The company currently has five standalone and joint venture facilities in North America supplying ESS solutions powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries.

The company identified the NextStar Energy facility in Windsor, Canada, as part of the region’s battery ecosystem. The plant began production last year and is backed by more than CAD 5 billion in investment. It is expected to create up to 2,500 direct jobs when it reaches full-scale production. According to LG Energy Solution, combining regional battery production with locally sourced spodumene concentrate will reinforce Canada’s battery value chain.

The agreement also diversifies LG Energy Solution’s raw material sourcing beyond lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide. Spodumene concentrate can be processed into either material, giving the company greater flexibility to adjust production in response to changing electric vehicle and ESS demand and market conditions.

Elevra Lithium CEO and Managing Director Lucas Dow said the agreement provides a committed customer for a meaningful portion of the North American Lithium project’s production while retaining exposure to spodumene concentrate market pricing. He added that the deal supports Elevra’s efforts to diversify its customer portfolio as it increases production and advances the project’s expansion.
