Li Auto launched its in-house Lianshan electric powertrain technology system on October 20, 2026. The system covers batteries, electric drive units and the automaker’s charging network as it expands the use of internally developed battery technology.
The company introduced conditional lifetime guarantees against battery self-ignition and fires following collisions. If an original battery self-ignites because of a quality problem and the vehicle meets scrapping criteria, Li Auto said it will provide a new vehicle with the same configuration. For qualifying fires caused by collisions or chassis scraping, it will cover the difference between the vehicle damage insurance coverage and the actual payout.
Li Auto said Lianshan batteries use a high-stability cathode, low-lithium-consumption anode and dual-formula electrolyte. Batteries across all models are expected to retain at least 75% health after eight years or 160,000 kilometers. The company also reported that the pack can withstand a 500-joule underside impact and remain watertight after 48 hours under 1 meter of water. It said the full pack will not catch fire for 24 hours after a single cell enters thermal runaway at 50 degrees Celsius.
Under the CLTC standard, the new Li L8 has 430 kilometers of pure-electric range, while the 2026 Li i6 has 780 kilometers, representing an overall improvement of more than 8% from the 2025 versions. Li Auto said its CAR119 cast aluminum rotor material adds more than 15 kilometers of urban range and more than 8 kilometers of highway range. A redesigned power module adds another 30 kilometers and frees 24 millimeters of headroom.
Lianshan Batteries Retain at Least 75% Health
Two lifetime guarantees back Li Auto’s 50-50 Sunwoda venture and planned 2.65 billion yuan ($394 million) investment for an 8.79% stake.
Both rows share Li Auto’s stated overall improvement of more than 8% over the 2025 versions; green marks gains.
Li Auto’s supercharging network now exceeds 4,200 stations, with reported equipment availability of 99.9%. The automaker is also shifting models from CATL batteries to batteries developed internally and produced through its 50-50 joint venture with Sunwoda. The batteries are already used in the Li L8, Li L6 and Li i8 and are planned for all models.
