NeoVolta Power and SK On have outlined a combined battery cell supply and battery energy storage system manufacturing arrangement that could cover up to 18 GWh over the next several years, supporting NeoVolta Power’s expansion in Georgia. Under a five-year agreement, NeoVolta Power will procure 9 GWh of U.S.-manufactured lithium iron phosphate cells from SK On between 2027 and 2031. The supply is intended to support production growth at NeoVolta Power’s facility in Pendergrass, Georgia.
The companies have also established a broader framework for an additional 9 GWh of cell supply during the same period. Under that arrangement, NeoVolta Power would manufacture energy storage packs that SK On would purchase. SK On will serve as the primary cell supplier for NeoVolta Power’s lithium iron phosphate pouch-cell-based battery energy storage system products.
NeoVolta Power said the agreement will help advance its U.S. manufacturing platform as it expands into large-scale energy storage. The company plans to produce battery energy storage systems for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications at the Pendergrass site. NeoVolta Power said its initial production line remains on track to move through commissioning and ramp-up activities.
The company is also evaluating additional capacity at the Georgia facility, including a second production line based on pouch-format cells. NeoVolta Power expects the wider collaboration with SK On to support a two-line manufacturing platform with a target of up to 8 GWh of annual battery energy storage system production capacity in 2028.
Earlier this year, NeoVolta Power formed a joint venture with PotisEdge and LONGi to manufacture battery energy storage system products in the United States, with an initial annual manufacturing capacity of 2 GWh in Georgia. The company said the new arrangement with SK On complements that effort and strengthens its supply and production plans.
According to NeoVolta Power CEO Ardes Johnson, the collaboration marks an important step in the company’s move into large-scale energy storage and the continued buildout of its U.S. manufacturing platform. SK On’s head of ESS business, Daejin Choi, said the partnership strengthens the company’s position in the U.S. battery energy storage system market and combines SK On’s U.S.-made lithium iron phosphate battery technology with NeoVolta Power’s manufacturing capabilities.
