NextStar Energy has begun production on a new battery pack manufacturing line at its Windsor, Ontario facility. The line adds a third production stage to existing cell and module operations, enabling full vertical integration from cell through to finished pack. The expansion responds to growing demand for energy storage systems and allows NextStar Energy to expand its product portfolio while reinforcing its position in the North American battery supply chain.
This project builds on NextStar’s status as Canada’s sole commercial-scale battery manufacturing site. Since announcing its grand opening as a wholly owned subsidiary of LG Energy Solution, the company initiated commercial cell production in November 2025 and reached an output milestone of one million cells in February 2026. The new pack line consolidates these capabilities on a single campus, promising improved production efficiency and shortened lead times.
Danies Lee, CEO of NextStar Energy, highlighted the significance of the addition, noting that pack production now completes the full manufacturing cycle—from cell to module to finished pack—on site in Windsor. This vertical integration is designed to support rapid scaling in the energy storage systems market and enhance supply chain resilience across North America.
The launch of the pack line also aligns with rising global trends toward sustainable energy solutions. By expanding its manufacturing footprint, NextStar aims to meet increasing requirements from renewable energy projects, utilities, and original equipment manufacturers. The integrated facility is expected to deliver a range of battery products, including standalone modules for stationary storage and tailored packs for various applications.
Looking ahead, NextStar Energy plans to leverage its comprehensive production capabilities to serve diverse customer segments and respond swiftly to market shifts. With the new battery pack line operational, the company is well positioned to support the accelerated deployment of energy storage infrastructure across Canada and beyond.
