PNT has completed construction of its latest manufacturing facility dedicated to producing cathode active materials and battery cells. The company announced on June 24 that the new plant, its fourth in the Gumi High-Tech Valley industrial complex in North Gyeongsang Province, became fully operational following an investment of 150 billion won.

Covering 66,050 square meters, the facility is designed to support growing demand for advanced battery components. The expansion has generated around 200 new jobs, reflecting PNT’s commitment to local economic development and its strategy to strengthen the company’s production capabilities.

Established in 2003 and headquartered in Gumi, PNT has built a reputation as a leading manufacturer of roll-to-roll battery equipment. This proprietary technology has served as the cornerstone of the company’s operations, enabling PNT to supply precision machinery for electrode processing across the battery industry.

According to CEO Kim Joon-seop, the new manufacturing plant represents a strategic milestone. “This facility will serve as a stepping stone for our transition from a specialist in electrode process equipment to a comprehensive provider of end-to-end battery solutions,” Kim said. He added that the expanded site will facilitate integrated production workflows, allowing the company to deliver both materials and cell assembly under one roof.

The completion of this fourth plant underscores PNT’s broader ambition to capture a larger share of the battery value chain. By combining equipment expertise with in-house materials and cell production, the company aims to offer turnkey solutions to electric vehicle and energy storage system manufacturers. With global demand for high-performance batteries on the rise, PNT’s vertical integration strategy is positioned to enhance its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving e-mobility market.
