Octillion Power Systems announced on Aug. 11, 2026, that it has opened its third manufacturing plant in India, expanding electric vehicle battery production capacity in Gujarat. The new facility is located in Halol and covers more than 13,000 square meters. According to the company, the plant was converted from an empty structure into a fully operational battery manufacturing site in less than eight months.

At full capacity, the Gujarat facility is expected to produce more than 48,000 battery systems annually, adding over 3 GWh of energy storage capacity each year. With this addition, Octillion said its three India facilities are expected to support annual production of more than 150,000 battery systems and about 9 GWh of battery capacity in the country. The company said the output will support passenger vehicles, trucks and light commercial vehicles, as well as buses.

Octillion said the expansion comes as India’s electric mobility market continues to grow across multiple vehicle categories. The company cited research from JMK Research showing that EV sales in India rose 43% year over year in the first half of 2026, reaching more than 1.54 million units and lifting overall EV penetration above 11%. The company also pointed to strong growth in electric passenger cars, buses, and trucks, along with government programs intended to accelerate adoption.

The company said the new plant is also intended to support a more resilient battery supply chain in India. It noted that India continues to rely heavily on imported lithium, cobalt, and nickel, while localization for key battery components remains limited for many manufacturers. Octillion said its approach in Gujarat includes standardized production processes, thermal modeling, and integrated battery management systems, with the goal of improving lead times and strengthening local responsiveness.

Octillion said the rapid completion of the plant reflects its ability to expand manufacturing capacity while maintaining operational standards for battery production. The company added that the facility is part of its broader effort to support electric mobility growth in India and other markets.
