This week CATL reported carbon neutrality across its core operations and set a 2035 value-chain target, while LG Energy Solution started cell production in Lansing, Michigan.   • 🔋 Geely Plans 2027 Pilot Rollout of 500 Wh/kg Batteries – Geely Holding says it will begin pilot deployment of solid-state batteries across its brands in 2027 after real-world validation, targeting a top-tier pack of 500 Wh/kg and more than 1,000 km of range. Read more
  • 🔋 Asahi Kasei Develops Pre-Doping for Silicon-Rich Lithium-Ion Batteries – Asahi Kasei says its lithium pre-doping technology could raise energy density and cut costs in silicon-rich lithium-ion cells, with the aim of improving EV range, storage runtime and manufacturability at scale. Read more
  • 🔋 DFP Additive Improves High-Voltage Battery Electrolytes – Researchers at the University of Münster found that lithium difluorophosphate can stabilize EC-FEC electrolyte blends, reduce decomposition and improve long-term cycling in high-voltage cells. Read more
  • 🔋 Defects Unlock Lithium Ion Transport in Lithium Titanate – TU Graz researchers report that removing oxygen atoms from lithium titanate activates an additional lithium-ion pathway and sharply improves conductivity, confirmed by NMR and conductivity spectroscopy. Read more
  • 🔋 Schaeffler and CATL Expand Battery Software Partnership – Schaeffler and CATL signed an MOU to co-develop battery management systems and compact X-in-1 PowerBox solutions for e-mobility, focusing on performance, safety and efficiency for European automakers. Read more

  • 🔋 EU Battery Passport May Reshape Europe’s Battery Market – The EU battery passport rule, starting in 2027, will require detailed digital data on battery origin, performance and recycling. Analysts say it could favor Korean makers with European plants over less transparent rivals. Read more
  • 🔋 South Korean Battery Makers Shift to Owned U.S. Plants – Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution and SK On are taking full control of North American battery plants as EV demand softens and subsidies fade, lowering costs and redirecting capacity toward storage and power infrastructure. Read more
  • 🔋 China LFP Battery Installations Hit Record Share in July – China’s power battery installations rose 33.5% in July, with LFP reaching a record 84.6% share while ternary batteries fell to a record low. Production and exports stayed strong as domestic demand cooled. Read more

  • 🔋 Fluence and LEAG Start 400 MWh GridBattery in Germany – LEAG Clean Power and Fluence have started building the 400 MWh Heinersbrück GridBattery in eastern Germany, a co-located storage project paired with wind and solar to support grid stability. Read more
  • 🔋 Quinbrook Supernode Advances With Stage 3 Battery Financing – Quinbrook’s Supernode storage campus in Brisbane has completed Stage 2 and reached financial close on A$469 million in debt for Stage 3, on track to become Australia’s largest operational storage campus. Read more
  • 🔋 Cummins to Supply Battery Storage for a U.S. Data Center – Cummins has been selected to provide battery energy storage systems for a large U.S. data center project, reflecting growing use of BESS for reliable power, backup capacity and resilient digital infrastructure. Read more

  • 🔋 LG Energy Solution Starts Battery Production in Lansing – LG Energy Solution has begun operations at its Lansing, Michigan plant, producing cells for energy storage systems and EVs, including Toyota’s 2027 Highlander EV, while scaling toward 35 GWh of capacity. Read more
  • 🔋 Octillion Opens Third India EV Battery Plant in Gujarat – Octillion Power Systems has opened its third Indian manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat. The site can produce more than 48,000 battery systems a year for cars, trucks, LCVs and buses. Read more
  • 🔋 Tesla Giga Shanghai Produces 6 Millionth Battery Pack – Tesla says its Shanghai Gigafactory has produced 6 million battery packs, reaching the mark nine months after 5 million. The company says packs are tested for safety and performance as China sales soften. Read more
  • 🔋 Forge Nano Breaks Ground on North Carolina Battery Campus – Forge Nano has begun expanding its Morrisville, North Carolina plant into a 315,000-square-foot campus, adding more than 250 jobs and targeting 3 GWh of annual capacity for defense and other U.S. markets. Read more

  • 🔋 Geely Auto Raises Export Target to 920,000 Vehicles – Geely Auto raised its 2026 export target to 920,000 vehicles and aims for 1 million overseas sales as foreign demand grows. First-half revenue and profit improved while China sales stayed under pressure. Read more
  • 🔋 Hongqi to Be First Non-BYD Brand Using Blade Battery – FAW’s Hongqi is set to become the first non-BYD brand to use BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and megawatt charging, as the FAW-FinDreams joint venture enters mass production and expands output. Read more
  • 🔋 Geely to Build Premium Models at Volvo Plants in 2028 – Geely Automobile says Zeekr and Lynk & Co models will be built at Volvo’s European plants from 2028, as new chairman An Conghui pushes closer coordination and local production in Europe. Read more
  • 🔋 Tesla Semi Heads to Europe for September Hannover Reveal – Tesla will unveil the European-market Semi at IAA Hannover in September 2026. UK website details list a 340-mile range and 800 kW charging, marking a delayed entry into the battery-electric truck market. Read more

  • 🔋 Anthro Energy Breaks Ground on Kentucky Electrolyte Plant – Anthro Energy has started construction in Louisville, Kentucky on what it says will be the first U.S.-owned advanced electrolyte plant, expected to produce 12,000 metric tons yearly for up to 25 GWh of batteries. Read more
  • 🔋 Princeton Critical Minerals Raises $16M for Lithium Scale-Up – Princeton Critical Minerals has raised $16 million to advance its lithium production platform toward commercial deployment, as demand grows from EVs, battery storage and other energy uses. Read more

  • 🔋 CATL Hits Core Carbon Neutrality, Eyes 2035 Supply Chain – CATL said it achieved carbon neutrality in core operations by the end of 2025 and set out a 2035 path for its value chain, based on zero-carbon power, lower energy use and carbon tracking across more than 100 suppliers. Read more
  • 🔋 CATL Reaches 2025 Carbon Neutrality, Sets 2035 Goal – CATL says all 20 of its battery plants are now certified carbon neutral, meeting its 2025 target for core operations, with a 2035 roadmap covering suppliers, logistics, materials and recycling. Read more
