SK Innovation and Singapore’s Bridge Data Centres have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and validate energy solutions for hyperscale AI data centers. The agreement, concluded on June 11 at SK’s Seorin Building in Seoul, targets a large-scale facility in Malaysia—one of Asia’s biggest AI data centers, with capacity exceeding 270 MW, surpassing Korea’s largest center.

Under the partnership, SK Innovation will deploy an AI-based Data Center Management System (DCMS) to monitor power flow in real time and detect anomalies, ensuring rapid activation of backup generators and auxiliary power. The company will also design integrated backup power systems that combine energy storage systems (ESS) with fuel cells, and introduce advanced immersion cooling technology. SK Enmove, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, commercialized the immersion cooling approach in Korea; it submerges servers in specialized cooling fluids to manage heat from high-density AI and big data equipment.

Bridge Data Centres, headquartered in Singapore, specializes in designing, building and operating hyperscale digital infrastructure. The firm already manages more than 1 GW of data center capacity across the Asia-Pacific region, including Malaysia, Thailand and India. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to establish a scalable framework for tailored energy solutions, positioning themselves as global providers of integrated power management services.

The initiative leverages SK Innovation’s expanded energy portfolio following its merger with SK E&S last November. The combined entity now spans oil refining, chemicals, batteries, LNG, hydrogen, wind, solar and small modular reactors. With this breadth of capabilities, SK Innovation plans to accelerate the commercialization of its data center energy solutions in international markets.

Moohwan Kim, Executive Vice President of SK Innovation added, “This agreement with Bridge Data Centres marks a significant step in validating the technological excellence and economic feasibility of our AI data center energy solutions. We plant to leverage this validadtion to pursue commercialization on a global scale. Furthermore, we are committed to engaging in joint research and development (R&D) initiatives with global AI data center companies as opportunities arise.”

Kevin Guan, Chief Investment Officer of Bridge Data Centres added, “As a tech-first company and a pioneer with the largest live capacity in Malaysia, Bridge DC has been at the forefront of hyperscale data centre development for the past decade in the pan-Asian region. Today we continue to invest in best-in-class technologies, matching local expertise with global experience to deliver world-class computing solutions. Our partnership with SK Innovation reflects our commitment to advancing green energy technologies for data centres, supporting our customers’ goals for sustainable and scalable growth.”
