Skeleton Technologies has announced that its latest supercapacitor achieved certification under UL 810A with a peak current rating of 3,500 amperes. The device, which occupies just 0.39 liters—roughly the size of a standard soda can—now holds the record for the highest peak current among UL-certified supercapacitors. This performance level is nearly 100 times greater than what conventional batteries can deliver.

As data centers evolve to support demanding artificial intelligence workloads, power requirements at the cabinet level have surged from around 10 kW in traditional settings to as much as 300 kW today, with projections moving toward 1 MW. These intensified power profiles call for systems that can respond instantaneously with exceptionally high current delivery.

“Our hyperscaler customers depend on Skeleton for instantaneous, reliable power delivery,” said Taavi Madiberk, CEO and co-founder of Skeleton Technologies. “Achieving this UL certification further validates our newest series of supercapacitors, which remain exceptionally safe under extreme conditions. Even in the unlikely event of a flame-thrower or bullet strike, there is no explosive reaction.”

Skeleton’s AI power systems are designed to serve every layer of data center infrastructure, from individual graphics processing units to grid connection points, uninterruptible power supplies, solid-state transformers and E-STATCOM modules. The company’s GrapheneGPU solution specifically addresses rapid power fluctuations at AI data centers, cutting grid connection requirements and total energy consumption by up to 44 percent. GrapheneGPU operates with response times below 10 microseconds, matching the rapid load changes of modern GPU clusters while enduring continuous charge-discharge cycles.

This record-setting certification highlights Skeleton Technologies’ role in advancing high-performance power solutions for next-generation AI data centers. The compact supercapacitor and its associated systems are now positioned as key enablers for environments where reliability, safety and instantaneous current delivery are critical.
