CHUZHOU, China, Sept. 14, 2026 — Trina Storage, the energy storage business unit of Trinasolar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AMP-lify, a Japanese clean energy platform, to supply approximately 1 GWh of grid-connected battery energy storage system equipment for AMP-lify’s projects in Japan. AMP-lify develops, constructs, and operates grid-connected battery storage systems, utility-scale solar projects, and onshore wind projects across the country.
Under the agreement, Trina Storage will provide its Elementa 3 series battery energy storage systems and related technical support for roughly 1 GWh of AMP-lify’s projects. Trina Storage’s Japan team will assist with system configuration, technical consultation, delivery coordination, and after-sales service.
The Elementa 3 platform uses Trina Storage’s in-house 587Ah high-capacity cell and can deliver up to 6.25 MWh per container for larger utility-scale sites. For projects facing transportation limits, restricted land availability, or proximity to communities, the 1.56 MWh Elementa 3 Flex is designed with an approximately five-square-meter footprint, a weight of about 13 tonnes for standard-truck transport, operating noise of 65 dB or less, and modular expansion capability.
Japan’s Seventh Strategic Energy Plan projects renewable energy will account for about 40% to 50% of power generation in fiscal 2040 and calls for storage batteries to help balance variable renewable output. As renewable generation grows, developers are placing greater emphasis on system design, local execution, and long-term operational support.
Martin Stein, Representative Director and CEO of AMP-lify, said Japan’s storage market requires projects that are technically sound and can be executed under local conditions. He said the cooperation provides a basis to move projects from site evaluation through construction and into operation.
Dr. Leo Zhao, Head of Energy Storage, Trinasolar Asia Pacific, said Japan’s market has distinct engineering and delivery requirements, including road weight limits, narrow site access, mountainous terrain, limited land, community noise expectations, seismic design, and coastal conditions. He said the MoU allows both companies to address those factors from the earliest stages of development.
Trina Storage said its technology and Japan-based support are backed by its recognition as a BloombergNEF Tier 1 energy storage supplier for 11 consecutive quarters.
