🔋 CATL to Mass Produce Sodium-Ion Batteries Globally by 2026

🔋 Ilika, Brompton Team Up to Add Solid-State Batteries

Ilika and Brompton Bicycles are working in a £214,000, 12-month program to integrate Ilika’s 10 Ah Goliath solid-state cells into foldable e-bike packs. The effort is backed by the UK Battery Innovation Programme, with trials aiming for mid-2027. Read more

🔋 BMW and University of Zagreb Launch AI Battery Cell Research

BMW and the University of Zagreb’s CRTA are using machine-learning methods at BMW’s Battery Cell Competence Centre to predict process parameters and performance. They report cutting material use and testing time by more than 50% while streamlining production. Read more

🔋 ProLogium Wins Edison Award for Gen4 Solid-State Battery

Voltavate secured a $3.55 million ARENA grant to scale separator production from lab to pilot. The company plans to integrate its manufacturing platform into cells for real-world tests aimed at improving performance, reducing waste, and strengthening resiliency. Read more

🔋 Noveria Energy and TenneT Ink 500 MW Grid Battery Deal

Noveria Energy and TenneT signed an agreement to connect a 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS near Wismar, Germany, to the grid. TenneT will build 380 kV substation infrastructure, with operation targeted for late 2027. Read more

🔋 Centrica Brings Two 40MW Battery Storage Systems Online

Centrica and Omexom commissioned two 40 MW BESS projects in Borlänge, Sweden. The systems have been operating since April 2026 and are expected to deliver 21,900 MWh annually to support grid flexibility and renewable integration. Read more

🔋 CATL Rolls Out Supercharging and Battery Swap Network

CATL announced a network pairing Shenxing supercharging piles with Chocolate swap stations across 99 cities. The company said it reduces power loss by over 13% and targets 4,000 sites by 2026. Read more

🔋 Vulcan Energy Begins Construction at Frankfurt Lithium Plant

🔋 Vulcan Energy, Siemens Unite for Europe’s First Lithium Site

Siemens will provide automation and digitalization technology for Vulcan Energy’s Lionheart Project in Germany’s Upper Rhine Valley. Vulcan targets 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide output and plans renewable electricity and heat supply through 2035. Read more

🔋 Axens MACARON CAM Plant Earns French Strategic Initiative

Axens’ MACARON cathode active materials plant project in Saint-Saulve was designated among France’s 150 major strategic initiatives following public consultations. The designation supports access to Net Zero and C3IV incentives as the project advances toward construction. Read more

🔋 EIT RawMaterials Backs E-magy’s Silicon Anode Scale-Up

EIT RawMaterials is funding E-magy’s scale-up of nanoporous silicon anode materials, targeting 50 tons of annual output by 2028. The effort aims to increase energy density, reduce emissions, and strengthen Europe’s battery supply chain. Read more

🔋 Redwood Materials Cuts 10% Staff to Focus on Energy Storage

Redwood Materials reduced its workforce by 135 jobs, about 10% of staff, to streamline engineering and operations while supporting growth in its energy storage business. CEO JB Straubel said the move does not indicate financial distress. Read more

🔋 Graphene Nanotubes Cut Conductive Polymer CO₂ Emissions by 26%

OCSiAl reported a life cycle assessment indicating that replacing multi-walled carbon nanotubes or carbon black with graphene nanotubes in polymer formulations can cut conductive polymer CO₂ emissions by 5–26%. The study attributes reductions to lower additive loadings and processing optimization. Read more

🔋 Altilium and Structural Battery Company Establish UK Drone Battery Supply Chain

Altilium and The Structural Battery Company plan a UK supply chain for heavy-lift drone batteries using recycled EV battery materials in a structural battery system. The partners said the approach can reduce weight by up to 50%. Read more
