Mubadala Capital is an independent alternative asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi sovereign investor managing around $330 billion in assets. The firm was among the first sovereign wealth entities to manage capital for third-party institutional clients alongside its own balance sheet. It oversees $27 billion in assets, including $21 billion on behalf of external investors. With offices in Abu Dhabi, London, New York, San Francisco and Singapore and a team of over 200 professionals, Mubadala Capital serves global clients across private equity, credit, real estate and venture capital.
The firm targets four core strategies. In Brazil it pursues complex or distressed assets, creating value through active ownership and tailored capital structures. Its private equity arm focuses on middle-market direct control and minority stakes in North America and Europe. The solutions team designs custom investment programs for institutions seeking alternative allocations across regions. Through its ventures platform, Mubadala Capital invests in founder-led technology and healthcare companies at early and growth stages worldwide.
Responsible investing is embedded in the firm’s approach. Guided by a goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the team backs projects in renewable energy, energy storage, clean hydrogen and carbon capture. In a notable example, Mubadala Capital committed $292 million to Zenobē, a provider of grid-scale battery systems and transport fleet electrification services. This investment underscores the firm’s commitment to technologies that support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Mubadala Capital also draws on the broader Mubadala network to support its portfolio companies, accessing operational expertise and strategic partnerships across industries. This global reach enables collaboration with regional experts, accelerates market entry and bolsters governance frameworks. Through these relationships, the firm seeks to enhance growth prospects and deliver resilient performance for investors.
