Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. is exploring a share offering in Hong Kong that could raise up to $5 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. The world’s leading electric vehicle battery producer has held preliminary discussions with banks and is also weighing the possibility of issuing convertible bonds to support its funding requirements. Sources emphasized that these plans remain under consideration and that no final decisions have been made.
This potential capital raise follows a strong performance in the company’s Hong Kong listing. Since its debut last May, the share price has climbed approximately 160 percent. On Monday, it reached a record high of HK$701 before closing at HK$682.50, up 0.15 percent.
Financial results released last month highlighted significant growth for full year 2025. Net income rose 42.3 percent to 72.2 billion yuan, while revenue increased 17.0 percent to 423.7 billion yuan. The company also proposed a cash dividend equivalent to 69.57 yuan per ten shares, representing roughly half of the period’s earnings.
In market share metrics, the company retained its leading position in China’s power battery installations in March, recording a domestic volume of 25.71 gigawatt-hours and capturing a 45.54 percent share. This marked a decline of 3.56 percentage points from February, as other manufacturers, including one holding 17.83 percent, expanded their footprints. Overall, March installations recovered fully from a seasonal slowdown experienced at the end of February.
As the battery maker evaluates its capital-raising options, industry observers will be watching for any official announcements and examining how additional funding might support ongoing expansion and technological development.
