Envision Energy has entered into a collaboration with Pulse Clean Energy to deploy a 129 MW/310 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK. Announced at Intersolar Europe in Munich, the project represents a key step in Envision’s Future Energy Systems rollout across the UK, aiming to deliver more flexible, resilient and low-carbon power infrastructure.

Originally designed for a two-hour discharge duration, the system has been optimized to provide 2.4 hours of autonomy. This enhancement illustrates how Envision’s technology can adapt to changing grid requirements. The storage solution will integrate Envision’s Gen 7 BESS platform, advanced battery cells and grid-forming capabilities. AI-powered controls will manage energy flows, improving stability, flexibility and support for rising electricity demand driven by electrification.

Supported by a locally based team with deep expertise in grid integration and Balance-of-Plant engineering, the project is aligned with evolving needs in the UK energy market. Once operational, the BESS facility is expected to facilitate greater renewable energy integration, strengthen regional resilience and support decarbonization efforts in local manufacturing and logistics sectors. Independent third-party ESG due diligence has been conducted to ensure transparent operations and responsible delivery.

Henry Peng, Senior Vice President and President of the EU & LATAM Regions at Envision Energy, noted that the partnership underscores Envision’s growing role as a system-level integrator. He emphasized that combining advanced storage technologies with AI-driven energy management is central to building an adaptive, low-carbon energy ecosystem.

Aazzum Yassir, Director of Technology and Operations at Pulse Clean Energy, highlighted the critical role of battery storage in modern energy systems, balancing supply and demand, strengthening grid security and lowering power costs for communities and businesses.

Vasilis Ntanovasilis, Director of Asset Delivery at Pulse Clean Energy, added that the collaboration aligns with both companies’ ambitions to scale world-class storage infrastructure in the UK. He said their combined expertise will help set a benchmark for resilience and clean energy goals in the region.
