🔋 Chery Patents Sulfide Electrolyte Coating for Solid-State Interfaces

🔋 TaiSan Raises £4.65M for Solid-State Sodium-Ion Batteries

MIT and TUM researchers reported that charged grain boundaries in LLZO solid electrolytes can trigger lithium dendrite growth. They optimized processing and reported tripled critical current density, aiming to support safer, faster solid-state batteries. Read more

CamMotive and Thermulon were appointed technology partners in the UK’s £2 million DRIVE35 project to develop AEROMOTIVE thermal protection. The work focuses on an aerogel-based barrier using ultra-thin insulating ATP layers to limit thermal runaway propagation. Read more

🔋 Report Says U.S. Clean Energy Rollbacks Canceled $68.2B in Investments

A report from E2 and BW Research says federal clean energy policy rollbacks have canceled 216 large-scale projects since 2025. It estimates $68.2B in private investment and nearly 470,000 jobs were lost. Read more

🔋 AESC Begins Mass Production of 46120 Cells for BMW Neue Klasse

AESC started mass production of 46120 cylindrical batteries at an automated facility to supply BMW’s Neue Klasse platform. The company cited 106 Ah NMC-graphite-silicon cells, more than 300 Wh/L, 6C fast charging, and 1,000+ cycles. Read more

🔋 Nio to Build Shanghai Battery R&D Base with Pilot Lines

Nio plans to begin construction of a battery R&D hub in Shanghai’s Jiading district in H2, including 31 labs, a cell pilot line, and a pack line. The site will focus on solid-state battery research with CATL and academic partners. Read more

🔋 Dongfeng Targets 50,000 Solid-State Battery EVs by 2027

Dongfeng Motor plans to deploy 50,000 EVs powered by its in-house solid-state batteries by 2027, starting with 100 demo vehicles this year. The company cited 350 Wh/kg cell production and targets small-scale output by 2030 and mass adoption by 2035. Read more

🔋 Talga Ships First Commercial Talnode-C Graphite Anode Batches to Nyobolt

Talga shipped its first commercial batches of Talnode-C graphite anode material to Nyobolt under a 3,000-tonne offtake agreement, moving beyond trial volumes. Talga said production from the planned Vittangi plant is expected to start pending a 2027 final investment decision. Read more

🔋 Penn State Converts PET Waste into Synthetic Graphite for Li-Ion Anodes

Penn State researchers reported that shredded PET bottles combined with graphene oxide can be thermally converted into synthetic graphite without metal catalysts. The resulting graphite showed larger, more ordered crystallites than natural graphite in the study. Read more

🔋 CATL Partners with CarbonScape to Scale Biographite Output

CATL made a strategic investment in New Zealand’s CarbonScape to scale bio-based graphite production for lithium-ion anodes, taking a board seat as its key industrialization partner. CarbonScape’s process converts forestry by-products into battery-grade graphite, targeting commercial plants in the U.S. and Europe by the end of the decade as a low-carbon alternative to oil-based feedstocks. Read more

🔋 Fraunhofer Study Warns of Metal Supply Gaps by 2045

A Fraunhofer ISI and IZM study for Germany’s Deutsche Rohstoffagentur found demand for 14 critical materials, including iridium, lithium, and graphite, could meet or exceed production by 2045. The report calls for diversified supply chains and recycling. Read more
