Nano One Materials Corp. has reached 85 percent completion of detailed engineering for its lithium iron phosphate (LFP) capacity expansion at the Candiac, Quebec facility as of mid-July 2026. The project will increase production capacity from the existing 200 tonnes per annum (tpa) pilot line to approximately 800 tpa by commissioning a new demonstration line in the first half of 2027.
Procurement for the expansion is largely complete: 95 percent of equipment by value—and all IP-sensitive components—have been sourced from suppliers in Canada, the United States and the European Union. Major purchase orders were finalized in March 2026, and initial equipment deliveries have arrived at the Candiac site. Final orders for remaining auxiliary systems are expected by the end of August.
The current 200 tpa pilot line operates a 20 m³ One-Pot™ reactor and supports small-volume offtakes for defence and energy storage customers, while enabling continuous product and process optimization. The planned 800 tpa demonstration line will automate proven full-scale production, allowing large-volume sample batches necessary for C-sample qualification, which typically consists of several one-tonne runs. These samples will support larger customer contracts and underpin opportunities for plant design licensing and joint ventures.
Nano One’s modular Design One Build Many strategy facilitates technology adoption by offering flexible licensing options. Cathode producers can license the One-Pot process through their preferred engineering vendors or opt for an integrated CAM Package developed with Worley, which includes feasibility-level production line designs, prequalified equipment vendors and raw material feedstocks. Customers can validate samples at the Candiac facility and transition to their own plants with operator training based on Nano One’s manufacturing expertise.
The Candiac facility, comprising multiple front-end production lines feeding shared downstream processing, will reach its full 800 tpa capacity once the new demonstration line is commissioned. The expansion is on schedule and fully funded by existing funding programs and working capital.
