Stellantis announced on September 29, 2026, that it will suspend production for between five and 15 days in October at four French plants, citing industrial reasons. The affected facilities are in Sochaux, Rennes, Mulhouse and Poissy.
At Sochaux in eastern France, production is scheduled to stop from October 23 to 30. The historic Peugeot plant manufactures upmarket SUVs. Stellantis attributed the shutdown to insufficient availability of certain batteries used in long-range versions of its electric vehicles. The company said the vehicles produced there are in high demand among business customers and that demand has exceeded its ability to secure parts supplies.
The Rennes plant will halt production from October 22 to 30. At Mulhouse, the stoppage will run for 15 days, from October 15 to 30. The Mulhouse site is due to receive €400 million from the €1 billion investment package for France that Stellantis announced in June.

On Tuesday 29 September, Stellantis set October stoppages over battery availability, parts constraints and demand-led stock management.
Mulhouse has the only duration stated outright; the other sites are shown by their October shutdown windows.
Starting in 2029, Stellantis plans to assemble three new models at Mulhouse, including sedans and compact SUVs. The company said this plan is intended to safeguard the future of the plant, which opened almost 60 years ago.
The CGT union criticized the use of short-time working during the production suspensions. It called on Stellantis to retain all workers, including agency staff, reduce assembly-line speeds, improve working conditions and provide employee training while output is lower.
At Poissy in the Paris region, production will stop from October 19 to 23. Stellantis said the measure will align production with market demand as part of its inventory management strategy. In April, the group announced plans to end production of its electric vehicle at Poissy by 2028. The site is instead expected to focus on producing and recycling parts, as well as preparing and converting vehicles.
