Sungrow Secures 1 GWh BESS Supply Deal with ENEVO in Romania
Sungrow and ENEVO Group have inked a deal for 1 GWh of PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled BESS in Romania, delivered in two phases by 2026. The partnership builds on solar ties and taps regulatory incentives amid surging grid-scale storage demand.

Sungrow has entered into a supply agreement with Romanian energy solutions provider ENEVO Group to deliver a total of 1 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across multiple projects in Romania. The contract will be executed in two phases: an initial delivery of 440 MWh scheduled before December 2026, followed by an additional 560 MWh to bring the combined capacity above 1 GWh.

All systems will utilize Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 Liquid Cooled BESS platform, which is designed for large-scale grid support and integration with renewable energy sources. This agreement builds on the companies’ existing collaboration in the solar sector and extends their partnership into grid-scale storage.

Radu Brașoveanu, CTO and co-founder of ENEVO Group, said the expanded cooperation reflects a shared vision and strategic ambition: “Our collaboration with Sungrow began in the solar market and has evolved into a broader partnership that now includes battery energy storage. Together, we are accelerating the integration of storage and renewables while positioning ENEVO as a key EPC contractor for large-scale BESS installations in the region.”

The deal comes amid a surge of activity in Romania’s grid-scale storage market. Over the past year, several major projects and financings have been announced by independent power producers and EPC firms, including Enery, Mass Group, Electrica, Eurowind Energy, and PPC Group. Notably, Enery secured €460 million to finance its 761 MWp solar and 1 GWh-plus storage project in Giurgiu County.

Country-specific factors are driving this momentum. Romania’s rapid growth in solar PV has led to pronounced midday generation peaks and steep evening ramps—often referred to as the “duck curve,” creating a strong business case for load shifting. At the same time, regulatory changes now exempt storage assets from transmission tariffs and green certificate levies, and they accelerate grid connection timelines for renewable projects that include storage.

Recovery and Resilience Facility funding has further supported deployments, with projects such as Eurowind Energy’s 116 MWh BESS at the Teiuș solar park receiving a €21 million grant. Meanwhile, financing activity continues to rise, with major lenders backing landmark hybrid projects and new partnerships forming to develop gigawatt-scale storage across the region.
