Talga Group Ltd. has signed a nonbinding letter of intent with EAS Batteries GmbH to establish a potential long-term supply arrangement for graphite anode material from Talga’s Vittangi Anode Project in Sweden. EAS is a German manufacturer of large-format cylindrical lithium-ion cells and battery systems.
The letter establishes a process for testing and qualifying Talga’s Talnode anode products for use in EAS’s high-power lithium-ion battery manufacturing. The companies are targeting April 2027 to negotiate and agree on a binding term sheet, followed by a definitive five-year supply agreement by July 2027 or a later mutually agreed date.
Under the proposed process, Talga and EAS will jointly finalize product specifications and quality requirements. They also plan to conduct supply-chain, human rights and environmental due diligence, including work toward FEOC-free status, an acceptable carbon dioxide footprint and agreed environmental, social and governance metrics.
The potential supply agreement would include an option for extension and use a mutually agreed euro-denominated pricing mechanism. The companies are still discussing potential supply volumes. Both parties have also agreed to provide reasonable strategic support for each other’s project financing processes.
The letter of intent is nonbinding except for provisions covering confidentiality and governing law. It does not require either company to buy, sell or supply material, reserve capacity, provide financing or enter a definitive supply agreement. Talga said there is no assurance that the negotiations will result in a binding contract.
EAS has more than 30 years of experience developing and manufacturing lithium-ion cells and battery systems in Germany. Its products serve industrial, marine, aviation and automotive applications. A definitive agreement would provide EAS with graphite anode material produced within Europe, while giving Talga a potential long-term customer in the high-performance battery segment.
