🔋 Global Battery Storage Capacity Surges 40% in 2025

Global battery storage capacity additions rose 40% in 2025 to 108 GW, led by utility-scale deployments in China, the U.S. and Europe. Costs are reported to be down more than 90% since 2010, supporting longer-duration energy shifting. Read more

🔋 CATL Opens World’s Largest Energy Storage Validation Testbed

CATL opened the Xiamen Energy Storage Validation Research Institute, a 10-hectare facility reported at 3 billion yuan. It includes station-level testing capabilities, a 100 MVA grid simulator, and thermal safety labs aimed at closing lab-to-field performance gaps. Read more

🔋 Hithium Unveils 8-Hour, 6.9 MWh Energy Storage in Australia

Hithium introduced its ∞Power 6.9 MWh, 8-hour energy storage system in Sydney as its entry into Australia’s long-duration storage market. The containerized system is positioned to meet New South Wales and Victoria eight-hour discharge requirements. Read more

🔋 Nextpower to Acquire Prevalon Energy, Expands into BESS

Nextpower plans to acquire Prevalon Energy for up to $365 million in cash and stock, expanding into battery energy storage systems and data center controls. Nextpower raised its fiscal 2027 revenue outlook to $4.0–$4.4 billion. Read more

🔋 SK On, Ford Complete US EV Battery Joint Venture Separation

SK On and Ford completed their U.S. EV battery JV separation, with SK On Tennessee operating as a standalone business and Ford taking control of two Kentucky plants. SK On projects a 5.4 trillion won debt reduction and $180 million in annual interest savings. Read more

🔋 SK On Tennessee Launches U.S. Battery Subsidiary in Stanton

SK On Tennessee launched on May 21, 2026 as a standalone U.S. battery subsidiary in Stanton, Tennessee. The company said the structure supports faster market response and a path toward mass production by 2028. Read more

🔋 CATL Commands 47% of China’s April 2026 Power Battery Market

CATL led China’s April 2026 power battery market with a 47.0% share after installing 28,694 MWh. BYD’s FinDreams followed at 18.3% and CALB at 8.5%, with the top 10 suppliers capturing about 90%. Read more

🔋 Renewables and EVs Surpass Fossil Fuels Amid Energy Crisis

Global renewable installations increased to 815 GW by 2025, while EV sales rose to 20.8 million units. Clean-energy investment reached $2.3 trillion, with renewables reported to have overtaken coal. Read more

🔋 ProLogium to List on Nasdaq via TDAC Merger at $3.8B

ProLogium agreed to merge with Translational Development Acquisition Corp. in a deal valuing the company at $3.8 billion, targeting a Nasdaq listing in H2 2026. The company said proceeds will support 4th-generation production scale-up and a gigafactory in France. Read more

🔋 BYD Files Patent for Sulfide Electrolyte Battery Membrane

BYD filed a patent covering a composite solid electrolyte membrane for sulfide-based solid-state batteries. The design encases inorganic particles in a polymer fiber network to improve ionic conductivity. Read more

🔋 China Tops Solid-State Battery Patents, Faces Competition

China accounts for about 35% of 16,429 global solid-state battery patents, according to the report cited. Japan, the U.S., and Korea are increasing policy support and IP activity, while commercialization targets are described around 2030 amid technical challenges. Read more

🔋 Honda Invests in Nexeon’s Silicon Anode Technology for EVs

Nexeon received a strategic investment from Honda’s Xcelerator Ventures to accelerate silicon-carbon anode development. The companies are targeting faster charging, longer cycle life, and higher range potential for next-generation EVs. Read more

🔋 Forge Nano, Group14 Partner on U.S.-Made Battery Cells

Forge Nano and Group14 Technologies partnered to produce lithium-ion cells in the U.S. using Group14’s SCC55 silicon-carbon material and Forge Nano’s Atomic Armor nanocoating. The collaboration is aimed at defense and aerospace applications. Read more

CATL and DST launched Choco-swap, described as China’s first standardized light-truck battery-swap ecosystem with 120-second exchanges. The companies reported 31 active stations in the Greater Bay Area and plans to expand to 140 by year-end. Read more

🔋 Summit Nanotech Rebrands as Summit Lithium Technologies, Completes DLE Plant Engineering

Summit Nanotech rebranded as Summit Lithium Technologies and reported completion of basic engineering for a modular direct lithium extraction plant. The design targets 5,000 tonnes per year of lithium output. Read more

🔋 MIT Closed-Loop Low-Temp Hard Rock Lithium Extraction

MIT researchers reported a closed-loop process that extracts lithium, aluminum, and silica from spodumene at room temperature. The method produces lithium precursors, smelter-grade alumina, and silica co-products with near-zero waste. Read more

🔋 Eni and FIB Partner to Build EU LFP Battery Supply Chain

Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB agreed to build an integrated European LFP battery supply chain spanning cell and module production, system assembly, recycling, and gigafactories. The partners are targeting 10% of the stationary market by 2029. Read more

🔋 DHL Breaks Ground on 17,000m² European Battery Hub

DHL Supply Chain began construction of a 17,000 m² European Battery Logistics Hub in Holtum, Netherlands. The site is scheduled to open in early 2027 and is intended to provide end-to-end services for EV batteries and energy storage across Benelux and nearby markets. Read more
