In 2025, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) reported a 42.28% increase in net income, reaching 72.2 billion yuan ($10.4 billion), driven by robust demand for electric vehicle batteries. Total revenue rose 17.04% year-over-year to 423.7 billion yuan, underscoring the company’s continued leadership in the global battery market.

The power battery segment generated 316.5 billion yuan in revenue, marking a 25.08% increase and accounting for 74.7% of total sales. Energy storage battery revenue grew 8.99% to 62.4 billion yuan, representing 14.74% of overall revenue. CATL attributed these gains to widespread adoption of lithium-ion batteries across automotive and stationary storage applications.

To reward shareholders, CATL proposed a cash dividend of 69.57 yuan per 10 shares, equivalent to 50% of its 2025 net income. The company noted that this payout ratio may vary in future years due to uncertainties in capital expenditure requirements. To support ongoing production and business development, CATL plans to register and issue up to 40 billion yuan in bonds, aiming to optimize its debt structure and lower financing costs.

Shipments of lithium-ion batteries reached 661 GWh in 2025, up 39.16% from the previous year. Power and energy storage batteries accounted for 541 GWh and 121 GWh, respectively. According to data from SNE Research, CATL maintained its position as the world’s largest EV battery maker, capturing a 39.2% global market share and remaining the only supplier with more than 30%.

By the end of 2025, CATL had established six major R&D centers and 24 battery factories worldwide, with installed lithium-ion battery production capacity of 772 GWh and an additional 321 GWh under construction.
