AB Energy USA announced on September 28, 2026, that it had reached approximately 2 GW of secured U.S. data center power projects. The capacity is composed of ECOMAX modules providing continuous on-site generation for five data centers in Texas and Oklahoma.
The modular systems use INNIO Jenbacher gas engines. They can also integrate absorption chillers that recover residual heat from the engines to produce chilled water for data center cooling. AB Energy USA said battery energy storage systems and other technologies will be included in some projects to increase capacity and operational flexibility.
On several projects, AB Energy USA worked with Houston-based Eradeh Power Consulting, a technical advisory firm specializing in power systems for artificial intelligence and hyperscale data centers. Eradeh translates the electrical behavior of large AI computing loads, including step loads, ramp rates, and voltage transients, into plant, system, and control requirements for islanded or behind-the-meter facilities. The companies combined this work with AB Energy USA’s experience in designing and delivering on-site energy systems to tailor the installations to each data center’s power and operating requirements.
AB Energy USA CEO Paolo Ruggeri said the cogeneration and trigeneration approach treats power and cooling as one integrated energy system that can be built in parallel with a data center. According to Ruggeri, this can reduce reliance on grid interconnection schedules when bringing facilities into operation. He also said the company is securing additional unit availability beyond the 2 GW total to address customer demand over the next five to eight years.
The secured projects are expected to support a combined 100 to 150 service and maintenance positions, according to AB Energy USA. The company said delivering the projects will require local engineering, commissioning, and service teams to support long-term operations.
