🔋 Australian Researchers Demonstrate Proof-of-Concept Quantum Battery

Researchers from CSIRO, the University of Melbourne, and RMIT reported a proof-of-concept quantum battery using super absorption to enable ultrafast charging at room temperature. The team described the concept as scalable. Read more

🔋 BAIC Develops Prismatic Sodium-Ion Battery Prototype

BAIC reported a prismatic sodium-ion prototype at 170 Wh/kg with 4C fast charging for an 11-minute recharge. It was tested from –40°C to 60°C, retained 92% output at –20°C, and passed stated safety standards. Read more

🔋 Chery Unveils Solid-State Rhino Battery Series

Chery introduced its Rhino solid-state battery series, including a 600 Wh/kg polymer cell targeting a 1,500 km range in the Exeed ES8 by 2027. It also presented Rhino E liquid and semi-solid packs and an Xunlong ultra-fast charging rollout. Read more

🔋 Eve Energy Commercializes Two All-Solid-State Batteries

Eve Energy said it commercialized two all-solid-state batteries at its Chengdu site: Longquan No. 3 for electronics and No. 4 for EVs. The company described the designs as pressure-tolerant and positioned them as steps toward mass production. Read more

🔋 Donut Lab Solid-State Pack Charges 10% to 50% in 5 Minutes

Donut Lab and Verge Motorcycles tested an 18 kWh air-cooled solid-state pack on the TS Pro, charging from 10% to 50% in five minutes at over 100 kW. The test also reported 70% in nine minutes and 80% in 12 minutes. Read more

🔋 Vertical Aerospace Opens VALO eVTOL Battery Pilot Line

Vertical Aerospace opened a semi-automated pilot line to assemble high-energy VALO eVTOL battery modules with integrated BMS. The line is intended to support in-house development, quality control, thermal management validation, and early lifecycle testing. Read more

🔋 Berlin Battery Lab Opens to Advance Sodium-Ion Research

BAM, HZB, and Humboldt University launched the Berlin Battery Lab to combine basic research, materials development, and cell assembly. The initiative targets resource-efficient sodium-ion technologies and industry collaboration. Read more

🔋 BYD Launches 1,500 kW Flash Chargers in Europe With Denza Z9GT Debut

BYD said it will install its first 1,500 kW flash-charging stations in Europe and debut an updated Denza Z9GT in Paris on April 8. The company said its LFP Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 70% in about five minutes. Read more

🔋 Stellantis-Backed Leapmotor Posts First Annual Profit

Leapmotor reported its first annual net profit in 2025 after delivering 596,555 vehicles, up 103%. The company reported revenue of 64.72 billion yuan and said it rolled out three new models while expanding overseas sales. Read more

🔋 BYD Brazil Plant Secures 100,000 Export Orders

BYD said its Camaçari plant in Brazil, operational since July 2025, secured 100,000 export orders, split between Argentina and Mexico. The company cited current capacity of 150,000 units and a goal of 600,000, plus a local R&D center plan. Read more

🔋 EV Battery Plant Utilization Falls Below 50% at Three Domestic Makers

Factory utilization at LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On fell below 50% in 2024, down from over 70% during 2021–2022. The report attributed the change to slower EV demand, increased competition, and capacity expansion. Read more

🔋 Porsche Opens Smart Battery Shop in Slovakia for Cayenne Electric Modules

Porsche’s 40,200-square-meter Smart Battery Shop in Horná Streda began full in-house production of Cayenne Electric battery modules in May 2024. The facility includes automated pouch cell assembly, real-time data tracking, and sustainability features. Read more

🔋 Geely Gains UN R171 Certification for G-ASD Driver Assistance System

Geely Auto Group said its G-ASD advanced driver assistance system received UN R171 approval, described as an EU regulatory certification first for a Chinese automaker. Developed by Afari Technology, G-ASD is slated to debut in Lotus vehicles in Europe in June. Read more

🔋 Samsung SDI Secures $1 Billion U.S. ESS Battery Contract

Samsung SDI America won a 1.5 trillion KRW contract, reported as $1 billion, to supply prismatic ESS batteries to a U.S. energy company from 2026 to 2029. Production is planned at the Indiana StarPlus plant using NCA then LFP cells and PrismStack technology. Read more

🔋 Tesla and LG Energy Solution to Invest $4.3 Billion in Michigan LFP Cell Plant

Tesla and LG Energy Solution plan a $4.3 billion Michigan plant to produce LFP prismatic cells for Megapack 3 energy storage systems. Production is planned to start in 2027. Read more

🔋 CATL and Transfar Group Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

CATL and Transfar Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde focused on green transformation and upgrades. The companies said the work will include supply chain optimization, zero-carbon ecosystem development, and robotics pilots in energy projects. Read more

🔋 Ultium Cells to Start LFP ESS Cell Production in Tennessee in Q2 2026

Ultium Cells will begin producing LFP cells for energy storage at its Spring Hill, Tennessee plant in Q2 2026 after a $70 million retooling. The cells are intended for LG Energy Solution’s Vertech ESS enclosures across North America. Read more

🔋 Chinese Battery Makers Accelerate Sodium-Ion Development

Chinese battery makers are increasing sodium-ion development in response to lithium supply constraints. CATL cited Naxtra mass production plans with Li Auto and Chang’an swaps, while BYD and HiNa reported capacity scaling for EVs, trucks, and grid storage. Read more

🔋 Vianode and Ateios Partner on Synthetic Graphite Anodes

Vianode and Ateios Systems will collaborate on next-generation synthetic graphite anodes. The partnership pairs Vianode’s low-carbon graphite with Ateios’s PFA-free RaiCore cathode platform for scalable production. Read more

🔋 Lyten to Acquire Revolt Recycling Plant and Expand Sweden Hub

Lyten signed an agreement to acquire Revolt’s Skellefteå recycling plant in Sweden, adding 8,500 t/yr capacity powered by fossil-free energy. Lyten said the deal expands its Industrial Hub and supports Europe’s supply chain. Read more

🔋 Lyten Plans Battery and Data Center Hub at Former Northvolt Site Near Heide

Lyten said it will convert the former Northvolt site near Heide into a hub for batteries covering defense, EVs, and storage, along with data centers. Construction is planned to begin in 2027, with production by 2028 and about 1,000 jobs. Read more

🔋 Lyten to Establish Industrial Hub in Gdansk, Poland

Lyten plans an Industrial Hub in Gdansk, Poland, with a 2026 feasibility study covering manufacturing, partnerships, and energy infrastructure at the Lyten Dwa plant. The plan includes expanding storage capacity and defense materials. Read more

🔋 Lyten Plans 2028 Heide Battery Plant With About 1,000 Jobs

Lyten’s CEO Dan Cook visited the future Heide battery site and said the company plans to acquire Northvolt’s facility. Lyten cited construction due next year, operations from 2028, and production for defense, energy storage, and EVs. Read more
